Da Nang: Room rates near the festival fireworks skyrocketing
On April 14, prices for hotel rooms ranged from VND1.5 million to VND5 million per night for five nights during the two-month fireworks show at the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) in 2018, from 30-4 to 30-6. In the remaining days, room rates return to normal levels from 500,000 VND to 2.1 million VND per night.
The problem is that these hotels only publicly post room rates on normal days and do not list prices on fireworks nights even though rooms. Typically a hotel (3 star) listed Standard Double Room price is 500,000 VND, but on fireworks night, room price is 1.4 million.
There is a hotel opposite the stage (Blossom City Hotel) room for 4 people for 5 million per night, while the normal day is only 2 million per night. Furthermore, the hotel will charge an extra fee for watching the fireworks.
However, when discussing with Mr. Nguyen Ha Bac, deputy director of the Department of Industry and Trade, he said no record has been recorded which reflects the increase in accommodation during the fireworks. He also confirmed that there would be no increase in hotel room and service charges during the DIFF 2018 period. According to DIFF 2018 Organizing Committee, the opening ceremony will take place on the night of April 30 with the first two teams in Vietnam and Poland. Qualifiers will continue on May 26 (France and US), 2-06 (Italy and Hong Kong), 9-06 (Sweden and Portugal). The closing and closing ceremony will take place on 30-06 night.
